Easy Way to IMPROVE YOUR BRAIN POWER

Everybody wants to be good at what they you. Better yet, everybody wants and needs to prove to themselves that they are better than everybody else. At least most of us feel that way. Don’t you? We want to be more intelligent, wiser, smarter, a quick thinker, and brainier. But what if you were born with a particular level of IQ? Will you be content? At this day and age, you can already do something about your IQ. There are now means and ways to better yourself, maximize your brain power and increase your intelligence.

1. Brainstorming. When you brainstorm, you think of something and try to come up with as many connections as you can with that something you first thought of. But this time, instead of thinking just one thing at first, you come up with two very different things like salt and grasshopper for instance. Then, you think of as many connections as you can between the two objects. This will extend your imagination and sever the critical ability that hampers the flow of ideas.

2. A bit of relaxing and flexing. This will help enhance your ability to do better at processing mental tasks. For students who are taking exams for instance, flex and relax your muscles at least 30 minutes before the exam. This will boost your concentration and ability in solving puzzles and very difficult problems by 25%.

3. Spell it away. This is more like doing some mind-mapping. If you have a particular goal or concern and it seems very hard to see the solution at the end of the tunnel, spell it out. Try to make a web of ideas making connections and sense of everything. This way, you see the answers to you problems more clearly.

4. Novel activity is good. Whether it’s getting into a new sport, a new hobby or learning a new language, it helps form new dendrites in your brain cells. They are those stems that aide in memory. Strengthening dendrite connections boost memory power and increase IQ in the process.

5. Let’s get physical. Doing aerobic exercises is a tool in enhancing your fluid intelligence (learning something new). It aides your frontal lobes in storing and processing information like advanced planning and quick decision making. At least 30 minutes of aerobic exercise a week should do the trick.

6. Visiting dreamland. Make sure you get a good night’s sleep. Being able to rest your brain for a good full eight hours of sleep helps revitalize your brain functioning. Doing this everyday will definitely give your brain power a boost because you allow your brain to repair the damaged cells and tissues, repair the pyche, and improve your overall mental performance the next day. So avoid drinking coffee a few hours before bed time. You may drink milk instead.

7. Walking, just like any other exercise, increases one’s intake of oxygen. The more oxygen your brain has, the better it can perform. Do this for at least 45 minutes three time a week. You will find that you become more energetic, you can multitask easily and you feel less sluggish and lazy.

8. It is in the early hours of the morning that your brain is at its sharpest level. Use this time wisely by getting a lot of things done. Tackle the more important and difficult things and save the easy ones for later.

9. Chunk your meals. Eating every few hours provide your body and your brain needed nutrients without bombarding your system with sugar. When you eat huge amounts at a time, the sugar you consume goes to your stomach and away from your brain where it is needed the most.

10. Have Vitamin B at the ready. This can be found in chicken, oats, tuna, whole wheat and bananas. They help manufacture and repair damaged brain tissues and help in improving your memory too.

driving experience

I've got driving license since 2007 but until now, I still cannot drive alone because I scared to drive on the road. I also have an experience which is it's my worse experience in my life even though it's a small thing.

Its happened in 2008 where I drove my brother's car (he left his car at home while he is stayed at hostel) alone to take my cousin at LRT station (can't mention the station's name..haha). I've to fetch my cousin alone because there are no one at home unless me and my father asking me to fetch my cousin since he has work out there. So, I've drove car to fetch my cousin even I don't want to do that.

Nothing happened when I on my way to fetch my cousin but after fetch my cousin at the LRT station, I turn left at the junction. Then, I saw 2 men walking on the road but they walk beside the road. Suddenly, there is a motorcycle behind me that is very fast. At that time, I want to avoiding from the motorcycle to be close, it was an accidental when I hit one of the men with my left side mirror.

The motorcycle is very rude on the road because he'still ride very fast even at our left is a school.
He should slow down the motor when ride at there. I've apologize to the man that I hit and he forgave me. I feels very grateful because nothing bad happened that time.

I've still scared to drive a car because I am afraid if the same situation happens. If I want to drive, I am asking for my father to sit besides me. If something happen, he can help me.

1 THING THAT I HAVE LEARNED

I have been given a task of Management Information System (MIS) which I have to prepare a spreadsheet showing my research result for all the computer hardware and software to determine the PC desktop system, laptop, printer, scanner and software combination that will offer both the best performance and pricing. Then, I have to prepare a quotation for all computer hardware and software.

One thing that I have learned from the research is the difficulties of choosing product based on the specification given and the price of the product. Almost all the computer hardware were exceed the specification given, thus the price is also more expensive. In the other hand, some of the computer hardware were not achieve the specification but the price is expensive.

To obtain the same specification and to make comparison become easier, I have to find it in many places to get the information about the computer hardware but it is still have a problem to find the price of printer, scanner and software because even I get the information about printer, scanner and software, it is only stated the features of the product but not the price. I have to work hard to get the price of the product.

After I got the information, I took a lot of time to find the price and the specification of the product with the specification that have been given and to choose the brand of the product.
It was really tired to choose the same specification that acquired with a lot of information that I got.

From this research, now I knew that we cannot just buy the product without doing any survey or specifications that we needs. Thanks to my lecturer of this subject for giving this task because it is really helpful in future.

Fiber Optic Cable

What is Fiber Optic Cable??
  • A technology that uses glass (or plastic) threads (fibers) to transmit data.
  • A fiber optic cable consists of a bundle of glass threads, each of which is capable of transmitting messages modulated onto light waves.
  • Fiber optics is a particularly popular technology for local-area network. In addition, telephone companies are steadily replacing traditional telephone lines with fiber optic cables. In the future, almost all communications will employ fiber optics.

Uses of Optical Fiber
  • As a medium for telecommunication and networking because it is flexible and can be bundled as cables.
  • Fibers can be used as light guides in medical and other applications where bright light needs to be brought to bear on a target without a clear line-of-sight path.
  • Used as sensors to measure strain, temperature, pressure and other parameters.
  • Bundles of fibres are used along with lenses for long, thin imaging devices called endoscopes, which are used to view objects through a small hole. Medical endoscopes are used for minimally invasive exploratory or surgical procedures (endoscopy). Industrial endoscopes (see fiberscope and borescope) are used for inspecting anything hard to reach, such as jet engine interiors.
  • In some high-tech buildings, optical fibers are used to route sunlight from the roof to other parts of the building.
  • Optical fibers have many decorative applications, including signs and arts, artificial Christmas tree, and lighting.
  • A few communities have Fiber to the Home technology which provides subscribers with Ultra High Speed Internet, Telephone, and Television services.

Two Major Types of Fiber Optic Cables
  • Single-mode: uses a specific light wavelength. The cable's core diameter is 8 to 10 micrometres. Single-mode fiber is often used for intercity telephone trunks and video applications.
  • Multi-mode: uses a large number of frequencies (or modes). The cable's core is larger than that of single-mode fiber. Multimode fiber is the type usually specified for LANs and WANs.

Advantages
  • Lower cost in the long run.
  • Low loss of signal (typically less than 0.3 dB/km), so repeater-less transmission over long distances is possible.
  • Large data-carrying capacity (thousands of times greater, reaching speeds of up to 1.6 Tb/s in field deployed systems and up to 10 Tb/s in lab systems).
  • Immunity to electromagnetic interference, including nuclear electromagnetic pulses (but can be damaged by alpha and beta radiation).
  • No electromagnetic radiation; difficult to eavesdrop.
  • High electrical resistance, so safe to use near high-voltage equipment or between areas with different earth potentials.
  • Low weight.
  • Signals contain very little power.
  • No crosstalk between cables.
  • No sparks (e.g. in automobile applications).
  • Difficult to place a tap or listening device on the line, providing better phyisical network security

Disadvantages
  • High investment cost.
  • Need for more expensive optical transmitters and receivers.
  • More difficult and expensive to splice than wires.
  • At higher optical powers, is susceptible to "fiber fuse" wherein a bit too much light meeting with an imperfection can destroy as much as 1.5 kilometers of wire at several metres per second. A "Fiber fuse" protection device at the transmitter can break the circuit to prevent damage, if the extreme conditions for this are deemed possible.
  • Cannot carry electrical power to operate terminal devices. However, current telecommunication trends greatly reduce this concern: availability of cell phones and wireless PDAs; the routine inclusion of back-up batteries in communication devices; lack of real interest in hybrid metal-fiber cables; and increased use of fiber-based intermediate systems.

8 SHOCKING FACTS about Skin Cancer

Skin cancer is on the rise and is developing in younger people. The good thing is that many cases of skin cancer are preventable. All it takes is a being sun savvy and educated on our parts to prevent the disease.

These skin cancer facts are jaw dropping. It really shows how skin cancer can affect us all, directly or indirectly.

1. More than 90% of skin cancer is caused by sun exposure.

The UV rays of the sun are responsible for non-melanoma skin cancers. Unprotected exposure to these rays can be from being outdoors, tanning booths, and even through your car or home windows.

2. Each hour, 1 person dies from skin cancer.

About 2,800 people will die of non-melanoma skin cancer and about 8,000 will die of melanoma in the U.S. this year. The sad thing is that many of these deaths could have been prevented by simply protecting ones self from the sun.

3. Skin cancer accounts for more than 50% of all cancers combined.

Skin cancer is the most commonly diagnosed type of cancer among men and women.

4. More than one million cases of skin cancer will be diagnosed this year.

The American Cancer Society estimates that 1.5 million cases of skin cancer will be diagnosed this year.

5. Skin cancer is most deadly for African Americans, Asians, and Latinos.

Although the risk factor is rather low for African Americans, Asians, and Latinos, skin cancer can be the most deadly for these groups.

6. 1 in 3 Caucasians will be diagnosed with skin cancer sometime in their life.

1 in 5 Americans will be diagnosed in their lifetime with skin cancer. The risk factor is higher for Caucasians, with it being in 1 in 3.

7. One bad burn in childhood doubles the risk factor for melanoma later in life.

Protecting children against UV exposure is essential for skin health into adulthood. A blistering sun burn during childhood increases the risk of melanoma as an adult. Melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer.

8. Men are diagnosed with skin cancer more often than women.

According to the American Cancer Society, men are twice as likely to develop skin cancer over women. In fact, it is more common than prostate cancer, lung cancer, and colon cancer in men over 50. This makes skin cancer the most common cancer in men over 50.

How to Talk to Someone You've Never Met

Tips
  • Practice smiling and saying "Hello" with every stranger you meet. You will be surprised how many people respond positively. Practice "small talk" too. This will build your comforrt level and help you be more relaxed. And you may make more new friends in this process.
  • Laugh at their jokes.

  • Remember, they are probably shy, too.
  • Be sincere.
  • As you get to know someone, they become more comfortable with you. The secret is to never push their comfort level.
  • Start talking to them from a safe distance, but not so far away they cannot hear you. As they become more comfortable, you can move closer.
  • If they appear uncomfortable, then give them space and slow down.
  • If they are already speaking with somebody else, consider whether they would want you to break in to that conversation. Generally, if people are standing in a closed circle or making direct eye contact, the group is not ready to welcome newcomers. If they stand with a space in the circle, that is usually an invitation for others to join the group.
  • Remember what they say, and refer to it next time you talk to them. That will show you paid attention.
  • Think of how you would initially react when you recognize a familiar friend; your body orientation, eye movement, tone of voice, type of smile. Then try to mimic it upon meeting a stranger.
  • Don't take it personally if the individual is arrogant, sarcastic, immature, or otherwise rude in his/her initial reply. This is a sign of emotional immaturity and is usually a maladaptive defense mechanism. Confident, self-actualized people will always remain polite yet assertive even when approached by someone they don't have the least bit of interest in talking to. Simply laugh it off as if they told a joke and move on, paying them no more attention. They didn't tell a joke, of course: they were the joke.
